Who benefits most from our Headlight Restoration?
This service is for a pair of headlights that are yellow, foggy, dull, dim or faded.
With a Headlight Restoration service, the entire plastic clear coat coating is treated with sandpaper, lubricant, compound and polish. This removes the oxidised layer which creates a new clear, clear headlight with maximum clarity.
When should someone get the Headlight Restoration?
This service should be done when the headlights are looking dull, faded, yellow or foggy and is a good maintenance or pre-sale service.
More often than not, a Headlight Restoration will revamp your headlights back to being clear and effective.
However, there are some extreme cases where a Headlight Restoration cannot help these problems - for example interior headlight damage which requires a replacement or a full headlight dismantling.
Benefits of our Sydney Headlight Restoration
Passing pink slip inspection for headlights
An important part of passing the pink slip inspection report is to have headlights that on low-beam setting can illuminate the road for at least 25 metres, and 50 metres on a high-beam (Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2017).
Therefore by not having effective headlights, you could fail your pink slip inspection, by being issued with a white slip failure notice for repairs.
By maintaining the functionality of your headlights through Headlight Restoration, you will avoid the stress, annoyance and difficulty of white slip repairs and an unroadworthy vehicle.
Avoid high cost of replacement headlights
There are two main alternatives when headlights get discoloured, hazy or lose their effectiveness. The first is to receive a Headlight Restoration. The second is to purchase new headlights altogether.
Out of these two options, a Headlight Restoration is by far the most cost effective solution.
Headlight replacements can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars on premium cars, and is only needed when there is physical damage, not oxidisation or discolouration!
Compare that to Headlight Restoration. With much lower costs and no interior headlight repair risks, it makes sense to choose a Headlight Restoration.
Improve headlight performance & safety
The most obvious benefit of a car Headlight Restoration in Sydney is that it will illuminate the road ahead brighter and with more distance.
This will not only improve driver experience, car value but most importantly the safety of the vehicle and the people inside of it.
Increase car value
By restoring your car headlights you will not only improve the car value in terms of look, but also functionality.
Headlights are one of the first things that a potential buyer will see, and plays a big role in the first impression of the vehicle.
Functionally, a well maintained set of headlights will improve the value of your vehicle, as it will be more effective in illuminating the road ahead, making the car safer as a whole.
Another service that will alter your car's resale value is our Engine Bay Detail.
Headlight Restoration FAQs
What is the scheduling and booking process?
Are you mobile or shop-based?
We are a mobile only business, offering mobile services to the Sydney Metropolitan area.
What areas do you service?
We service the Sydney Metropolitan area. Some of our common service areas include Sydney CBD, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, North Shore, Parramatta, St George, Northern Beaches, Sutherland Shire and Upper North Shore.
We can also take requests from outside of these areas with a travel surcharge.
What makes my headlights look bad?
The yellow, foggy, dull, dim, faded or hazy exterior on headlights is caused by the clear coat on your headlights deteriorating.
Clear coat is a transparent finish paint that is put on car headlights and car paint to act as a protectant. The clear coat on car headlights which are on top of plastic covering deteriorate much quicker compared to the clear coat on a car due to sun exposure.
Considering how hot and sunny Sydney’s weather can get, especially in the summer it is no surprise that car headlights can get hazy, dim or covered in that yellowish colour - leaving the headlights in need of a Headlight Restoration.
Headlights also lose their effectiveness and clear colour from the high temperature of some headlights when turned on.
Are all headlights restorable?
Most headlights will be restorable, allowing for increased visibility and a better look.
However, some headlights that look dull, foggy, hazy or yellow cannot be restored to a like-new condition because of problems like permanent damage or interior headlight issues.
How long does the service take?
The service duration depends on the size and condition of the headlights. However, this service generally takes between 50-90 minutes on average.
How do I maintain my headlights?
The best way to maintain headlights is to park out of direct sunlight (e.g. shade or garage), allowing the clear coat of the headlights to stay away from UV rays.
The next best way to maintain headlights, especially if you can’t park out of direct sunlight, is to apply some type of protection, which can come in the form of a wax, sealant, ceramic or graphene coating.
What type of payment do you prefer?
We prefer a cash payment method. However, we also collect card payment.
What is your wet/extreme weather protocol?
For most wet weather conditions we will still continue the service, working under a gazebo or garage.
If the weather doesn’t permit us to work however, we will message to reschedule the service.
Do you need access to water & electricity?
We need access to electricity for this service, but we do not need access to water.
"Contacted Foam Car Washing after needing a detail for my car as I’m preparing to sell it. I contacted them and their communication throughout the process was incredible. Amazing customer service! They came to my house to work on my vehicle. This was so convenient as I have a very busy life and not having to go to a shop and wait saved me a lot of time and stress. York took his time on my vehicle and it shows. He was very meticulous in his process and the car was looking very good once finished. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Foam Car Washing!!"
